TEACHING WITH TECHNOLOGY

Teaching and technology are two of my favorite things and I have loved combining the two to make learning come alive for my students. As an educator with thirteen years of experience in the classroom, it is my mission to create 21st Century learning environments that prepare students to be thinkers, tinkerers, and changers.

Who I Am

Living and teaching in Houston, I have had the opportunity to learn so much when it comes to urban education. I have been trained by a number of quality educators and students, which means I’ve had many different experiences that have built me into the skilled teacher that I am today.

My Career

My experience as an educator has brought me far, and I am excited to continue to develop and grow. As a lover of learning, I truly believe that learning never stops. I have learned so much from my colleagues and students and am proud of the work I have done to create exceptional learning experiences for my scholars.

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST

July 2019-Present

Developed and led campus educational technology integration plan including budgeting and deployment of technology devices & peripherals for a middle school of 1250 students.
Managed Apple devices through JAMF Mobile Device Management system, Apple School Manager, Apple Configurator, and Apple Care.
Worked laterally with campus and district administrators, procurement, and IT to ensure that technologies met policy requirements and the needs of the students and teachers.
Collaborated with IT department to ensure educational technology plan matched infrastructure lifecycle support and to ensure that IT being purchased has educational purposes.
Provided technical support for a campus community of 1300+ stakeholders.
Suggested improvements based on available technology, best practices, and/or changing environments.
Provided input to inform strategic planning in the area of technology support for all curriculum areas.
Provided training of campus employees on the use of their own workplace technology and support for integration of educational technologies associated with various curriculum areas.
Facilitated educational technology professional development for campus administrators and teachers.

CONTENT SPECIALIST / TEACHER

August 2005-Present

Developed and led the implementation of aligned middle school Social Studies curriculum at the district level.
Developed and facilitated face to face and virtual PDs for both senior level district officials and teachers.
Transformed traditional ELA curriculum into a blended learning curriculum
Developed instruction that led to students having the highest reading scores on reading checkpoints nationally.
Created ELA instruction for a 1:1 classroom environment using Chromebooks.
Created inquiry based and project-based Social Studies learning opportunities for students to use with both Macbooks and iPads.
Developed engaging and rigorous lessons and assessments for 7th Grade History for urban students from various socioeconomic and academic levels.
